At Hi-Tech, we offer different types of Ultrasonic testing for whatever your inspection needs might be.

One of our main Ultrasonic testing services is what is known as Ultrasonic End Area Inspection or UTEA. This is where we check for cracks and other different types of defects in the end areas of your drill pipe.

Although EMI is very effective in finding flaws in the middle section of the pipe being inspected, it does lack some sensitivity and effectiveness in locating defects towards the end areas which is what we like to call the most critical area of the pipe for many different reasons.

UTEA has been proven to be very effective in locating flaws in the end area. We find that the UTEA unit we use, known as the wheel-type unit, is more effective in the transition zone of the upset where lots of flaws are found.
